With its dark wooden shaft and the cast iron top the nut hammer looks just as handy as it is. Simply put a nut into the silicone holder, hit the hammer against a hard surface and the cast iron back will crack the nut. Very easy for both young and older hands – and SO much more fun than regular nut crackers.
Roger Arquer on his inspiration for the Nutcracker “when I was a child I was fascinated by a nutcracker that my uncle had. It was a small wooden mallet with a concave wooden tray. It had a recess in the middle so the nuts would be nested when hammered. It was very theatrical and I have vivid memories of it.
My design wants to bring back the physical action of hammering in order to crack the nut - which I find incredibly satisfying. The Nutcracker is an invitation to turn the pleasure of using an object into a ritual or a celebrated habit. And by using it, you create a special bond with the design.”
